Barry trained in London at the internationally famous French Cookery School Tante Marie. He cites his strongest culinary influences from that time being Pierre Koffman of La Tante Claire,
- Kensington and Nico Landenis of Simply Nico-Battersea.
He has travelled extensively throughout regional France where he has nurtured his passion for flavoursome country food.
Throughout his career he has cooked for the regal and famous including a stint with the Royals and has appeared with Keith Floyd in his French Master Class cooking series on English television.
With actor/restaurateur David Waters he has operated restaurants in Sydney, Frying Times Fish Café in Glebe, Simply French Restaurant in Ultimo and until recently the very successful Gallery Restaurant, Katoomba.
He has appeared on the ABC’s Saturday Mornings with Simon Marnie’s Chef’s Challenge and has several food articles and recipes published in “Blue Mountains Lifestyle” and “Australian Gourmet Traveller”.

David has performed in plays with most of the major theatre companies of Australia including the Sydney Theatre Company where he last performed in the musical Falsettos, directed by Wayne Harrison.
He has appeared on stage in the UK including starring on the West End with Emma Thompson in the musical Me and My Girl written by Stephen Fry and directed by Mick Ockrent and Stepping Out for the Bill Kenwright Organization. He also starred in the original Australian production of Me and My Girl for J.C. Williamsons.
He has appeared in many Australian films and television series and was the host of the long running Channel Nine children’s quiz program Match Mates.
He recently appeared on ABC Television in Remembering Alex Buzo.
